Windows wrongfully suspending Mail app

Is there a way to prevent Windows 10 from suspending apps?

It recently started to suspend the Mail app, and this seems to be preventing it from checking new messages, meaning I no longer get any email notifications unless I manually open the app.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? Or do I just have to leave a window open for Mail at all times from now on?

Thanks for any help.

    Bump. Seriously, no one?

My Windows machine refuses to sync email in the background because it's sabotaging itself, someone please help me out here.

Is there no way to disable app suspension? Or mark specific processes as "do not suspend?" Something? Anything?

Edit: For that matter, I just noticed I missed a phone text conversation because Windows also suspended the Your Phone processes.

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand your concern as you are getting a suspended status for mail app in Task Manager. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below.

    • What is the Windows 10 version and Build installed? (Type winver in Windows search/Run command)
    • Are you aware of any recent changes, prior to this issue?

We would suggest you to reinstall Microsoft Mail & Calendar app as this will refresh the app settings.

Note: Uninstall this app and its settings will not affect the documents and the email configuration remains as it was before reinstallation.

    1. Close all Mail app.
    2. Open Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
    3. Scroll down and select Mail & Calendar app.
    4. Click on Uninstall.
    5. Once the Mail & Calendar app is removed, then reinstall it from Microsoft Store.
    6. After reinstallation the app, launch and check the reading pane.

Let us know how it goes
