When I'm typing, I'm unable to produce double letters. It's quite a complicated procedure to correct. Help?

What exactly happens if you tap the letter twice on the keyboard? Is this what is not working? If not please explain a bit more so I can guide you with repairs.
When I'm typing in Word (or wherever) and I come to a word that contains the same leter, number, space, or character twice in a row (se leter a few words back), it types only one. This is the second time this has hapened; the last time the system gave me some instructions that adjusted the amount of time aloted for a leter to post. It worked for a while, but as you can se, not any more.
I would be most appreciative if you could help me with this. Thank you.
