RS232 Cable

For programming purposes, an RS232 cable is needed. So, I'm just curious if it can be used for video purposes as well. For example, when duplicating a screen. It appears to be a USB to VGA port and is less expensive.

    Hello,

I am Sourav an Independent Advisor.

No, it can't be used as a video cable. The computer will send commands to the devices using the RS232 protocol and cable. You'll need a separate USB to VGA cable for screen replication (Multiple Monitor Setup).

    Thank You :)

    Dear KristneAthonette,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

Unfortunately, No. RS232 connector is SERIAL PORT. This connector is basically used to connect various components to the PC like mice, printers etc. and is capable only to transmit data and not capable of transmitting video signals.
