    Dear Sandy Lepore

    Thanks for raising your concerns in Microsoft Community.

    Based on your description, I understand that you want to delete the account on your computer.

    It should be explained that removing the device from the account will not log out of the account logged in in the device settings. If you want to completely remove the account from the computer, you can try to log out directly first. If you cannot log out of the account, you can delete it through the newly created account.

    1-> Log out of the account

    • Go to [Settings] > [Account] > [Account Information] on the computer, click [Switch to local account login] on the interface, and enter the account password for verification.
    • After successful verification, it will switch to a local account, and then you can log in to another Microsoft account again.

    If you cannot log out, you can refer to the following steps to create a new account to delete the original account:

    2->Create a new administrator account

    • Method 1: Create via the graphical interface
      • Open Settings and select [Accounts] > [Family & other users].
      • Under [Other users], click [Add an account]. Select [I don't have this person's sign-in information] > [Add a user without a Microsoft account].
      • Enter a user name and password (optional) and click Next to complete the creation.
      • Return to the Family & other users page, find the new account, and click Change account type. Select Administrator and click OK.
    • Method 2: Through the command prompt (administrator privileges)
      • Search [cmd], right-click and select [Run as administrator].
      • Enter the following commands in sequence (the underlined part needs to be set by you, please pay attention to the spacebar in the command)
      • Create a new user: net user username password /add
      • Add the user to the administrator group: net localgroup administrators username /add

    3->Switch accounts and transfer configuration files

    • Click the Start icon and the avatar, click [Logout], return to the login interface, and then log in to the newly created account.
    • After logging in successfully, you need to transfer the configuration files of the old account first to avoid data loss after deleting the account. You need to open the file explorer, access [C:\Users\Original Account], copy all files, and paste them in [C:\Users\New Account]. If there are duplicate files, click [Skip].

    4->Delete account

    • Wait for the configuration file transfer to complete, and the contents of the original account's [Desktop], [Documents] and other personal folders will be transferred to the new account. You can then delete the original account through [Settings] > [Account] > [Other Users].

    I hope the above information is helpful to you. If my understanding is wrong, please reply to correct it. We are looking forward to hearing from you and will continue to assist you.

    Best Regards,
