Hi, I recently took apart a old pc running windows 7 or 10(Can't Remember), from which I had scavenged a webcam. After wiring it up to a usb cable and making sure its connected correctly I connected it to my desktop, but was unable to use it as a webcam. Iwent to device manger and it showed upp as unkown usb device. I figured it was a driver issue but I had already enclosed the camera in a small case and did not remeber the modle of the laptop i took it from. Can anyone help me find a driver for the camera?

Thanks.

    Hi Prtcl3 -

I'm Kevin B. Independent advisor and a Windows user like you. I do apologize for the inconvenience that you experiencing right now, let me help you sort things out.

In order to get a driver for the camera you need to identify its brand and model first for you to download it online or on the OEM website of the camera itself. Also, you need to consider if the camera is compatible with the current version of windows that you're using.

Locate your webcam’s identification (ID) tag. This tag is usually near the connector-end of the webcam’s USB connection cable. Look for the webcam’s model number on the ID tag. Once found you can search for an available driver that can be downloaded online.

The Unknown USB Device notification usually appears when a hardware connected on computer cannot identify by windows. This occurs when a driver is missing or the device itself is not working.

Did you already tried to update the driver manually on your computer? To do it, you need to open the device manager, right click on the webcams driver and select update driver and windows will automatically find an available driver that can be used by windows.

Feel free to reach back to us if you need further assistance

Hope this will help and have a bless day!
