Hi

I am having problems with both Edge and Chrome when trying to access a website.

I keep getting an error message. Unable to open the webpage, firewall or proxy problem.

Is it something that is inherent in the system.

This appears to have happened in the last two weeks, everything was working fine before.

I have tried adding the affected sites to “allow them to be accessed” but they are still rejected.

No Brian these commands are harmless and will not cause any issues. Running these are similar to clearing cache of a computer so that any trouble caused by previous files is removed.

    Thanks!

Is there any possibility of causing any other problems by doing this. I always worry when I have to go into “Commands” etc.

Try running these commands from cmd please

Here's how to run networking commands in a command prompt:

Select the Start button, start typing cmd, right-click Command Prompt in the list, select Run as Administrator, and then select Yes.

At the command prompt, run the following commands in the listed order and then check to see if that fixes your connection problem:

Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter.

Type netsh int ip reset and press Enter.

Type ipconfig /release and press Enter.

Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter.

Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.

    Hi

thanks for your reply. I only have one PC. Home user. I am now using my ipad to reply to you.

Which seems to point to my laptop being the problem. I have reset my router(20minutes, apparently because it’s fibre). I have just reset my network on my laptop. It made no difference. I got onto one site when I tried to access some information it fails to connect.

    Hello BrianCollins_227,

I am Jaspreet Singh an independent advisor.

If multiple browsers are having issues connecting to a website the issue might be in your internet settings or configuration.

Try accessing the same website via another machine in the same network. See if you are able to.
