My Electronics Workbench v5.12 is not working. It shows the error 0xc0000142. I've uninstalled & re-installed it again numerous times , & this software works for many of my classmates.

But not for me.

Can someone help me solve this?

    Hi MonstaJaby, I am Rob, an independent and a 15 time and dual award MVP specializing in Windows troubleshooting and Bluescreen analysis. Please remember as independents we are not responsible for the development of Windows or the computer hardware and drivers. If you will work with me I will be here to help until the issue is resolved.

    That error is usually caused by corrupt system files. If you are the Administrator on the computer you can fix using the methods below. If not you will need to ask the Administrator to help you.

    Windows Key + X - Command Prompt (Admin) OR Windows PowerShell (Admin)

    (Run these one line at a time.)

    How to Run SFC Command to Repair System Files in Windows 10 < -- see Option 5

    http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2895-sfc-com...

    SFC /scannow

    Note if that shows uncorrected errors - continue regardless.

    When that completes run these :

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

    DISM /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth

    DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

    Note if that shows any uncorrected errors - continue regardless.

    Then restart the computer.

    Fix Windows Update errors by using the DISM or System Update Readiness tool

    How to Repair Windows 10 Image using DISM

    http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/7808-dism-re...

    After running DISM restart the computer then run SFC /scannow again. and restart the computer.

    If needed :

    A Repair Installation which allows you to keep the programs and data though redundant backups are always a good idea.

    Best to use the Command Prompt.

    Start - type in --> CMD

    Find at top - Right Click on it Run as Admin.

    ======

    It is possible that you have a hard drive issue which caused the corruption.

    Give DISM a while (it can be slow) - a couple of hours - if still such then restart the computer. In File Explorer Right Click Local Drive (C:) - select Properties - Tools tab - "Error checking" - click Check (It will prompt you to do check after restarting - say OK.)

    How to Check a Drive for Errors in Windows 10

    http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/40734-drive-...

    After that completes, and it also can take a while, then restart the PC and start over with SFC /scannow and proceed as in the previous reply.

    =======

    If Check Disk fails (shows uncorrected errors) and/or SFC or DISM lockup again then use these.

    Run the appropriate one of these and/or the trial versions below.

    Manufacturer's Diagnostic Utilities.
