Hi,

is it possible to see the memory consumption of the virtual machine in the azure portal without having to enable insight?

This is also possible when enabling diagnostic settings. (to a storaga account).
then you can also 'sink" this back to Azure Monitor.
with this option you can see the memory usage from the portal itself.

another option is to use Log Analytics. (without the Azure Monitor for VM's) insights you also have the memroy usage available.

Hi,

Short answer:
Depends.

Long Answer:
They have removed the "host metric" memory from VM's, so you have to use the new Insight option to expose the memory usage.

If you don't want to use Azure Monitor you can also use Log Analytics:

All resource-level platform metrics will continue to be available to you for free. Custom metrics emitted against Azure resources will be metered.

And when these LOGs are sent you need to store them and this generates a cost.

I did a test, I enabled the LOGs and yes I can see.

But in another subscription that is not configured to send the LOGs I cannot see any information, says that I need to configure the sending of the LOGs.

Are you sure this will not generate storage costs?

We didn't find any logs

There may be several reasons for this:

If you have just set up log collection, the logs may take several minutes to appear.

For VM resources, make sure that you are using the latest version of the Log Analytics agent.

For non-VM features, you may need to configure diagnostic settings to send logs to Log Analytics.
4 Log. You do not have access to workspaces that contain log data.
