Hi, i've been expieriencing BSOD's quite often lately and i finally found that the event VOLMGR 161 is a cause of that. I'm using Lenovo Legion Y520 and the event had following informations asigned:

  • <Event xmlns="**http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event**">
  • <System> <Provider Name="volmgr" /><EventID Qualifiers="49156">161</EventID><Version>0</Version><Level>2</Level><Task>0</Task><Opcode>0</Opcode><Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords><TimeCreated SystemTime="2022-01-18T13:36:41.2771845Z" /><EventRecordID>1125</EventRecordID><Correlation /><Execution ProcessID="4" ThreadID="468" /><Channel>System</Channel><Computer>LAPTOP-0GBN2718</Computer><Security /></System>
  • <EventData> <Data>\Device\HarddiskVolume2</Data><Binary>000000000100000000000000A10004C042000400010000C000000000000000000000000000000000</Binary></EventData> </Event>

Does this part: "<Data>\Device\HarddiskVolume2</Data>" means that there's problem with my harddrive? If so, are there any means of repairing that without visiting a laptop service?

For some reason creating dump files was set to automatic (i've reinstalled the system few days ago hoping this would resolve the problems). Just changed it to creating dump files. Now it's the matter of waiting for a BSOD.

Can you check if you have a Memory dump file?

It should be in the C:\Windows folder with the name "MEMORY.DMP" file.

    Thanks.

    Hi Czerwiol,

I'm Paul and I'm here to help you with your concern.

Please upload the minidump files Windows created when you encountered BSOD. It will help us determine what caused the PC to crash.

    1. Open Windows File Explorer
    2. Go to C:\Windows\Minidump
    3. Zip those files
    4. Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive, DropBox . . . etc.).
    5. Then share the link here.

    Thanks.
