Controlling settings, permissions, and membership within Teams and channels
Please remove or add a feature to disable the subject line. This is the reason it is called INSTANT messaging not an email app.

I don't want to (ever) add a title to my 'post', I simply want to write a message, usually with little or not formatting and press enter to send. OK, I can live with pressing SHIFT+ENTER now, but I do not want the hassle of having to first tab out of the 'Subject' field which I will never set. Plus I have to also tab again, as the focus drops to the 'Bold' icon after the first Tab.

thanks foe nothing
Seems a backward step? Closer to email and further away from instant messaging, which i'd guess where still most users have big interest. Looking forward to an update in ca. 2026
Hi Aaron
I'm AnnaThomas and I'd happily help you with your question. In this Forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself no one here is a Microsoft employee.
According to UMAR MAJEED in the thread below, Unfortunately, there is no way to remove the subject line in Teams messaging at this time. This is a new feature that Microsoft has added, and it is not yet possible to disable it.

I hope this helps ;-), let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions.
Best Regards,
AnnaThomas

Since we cannot disable the Subject field in the updated version of Teams, can we somehow @ mention members in the subject line? It's very, very frustrating to have to tab to the message field before we can tag anyone.
