Anchor text boxes to page

Very often I have to insert one or more text box with images into scientific papers. I mean, one should consider a two column document where you can find even three of four different text boxes and each one contains a figure and text. The problem is that when you try to do it in Word 2010 (or previous version) it isimpossible to anchor these boxes to the page making very difficult the typing process. Is there any way to do it?

Word does not allow you to anchor text boxes (or any other objects) to a particular page. The best you can do is anchor the box to a paragraph somewhere in the middle of the page so that it is unlikely to move to the next page, even if you edit the surrounding text slightly (a text box will always display on the same page as its anchor).

To see anchors in Word, select "Object anchors" at File tab | Options | Display category. The anchor of an object will be visible when you select the object.

Note that if you make use of Word's built-in caption feature, you may want to insert the object "In line with text" and the caption in an ordinary text paragraph, and then wrap a frame around both of them. (The Insert Horizontal Frame command can be added to the Quick Access Toolbar.)

To add to what Stefan has said, you can specify the position of a text box relative to the page, but it does have to be anchored to a paragraph on that page. If that paragraph moves to another page, the text box will move with it but will retain its position relative to the page.

It's a pity that Word does not have this feature.

Anyhow, thanks a lot for your answer.

    Regards,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I do not have any link issue. My problem is to anchor (i.e. fix the position) of a text box into a specific page and not relate it to a paragraph. This feature is very easy to implement in Libreoffice. Unfortunately, I'm unable to do it using Microsoft Office 2010. Someone can help?

Try these steps to link the text boxes:

Draw the text boxes from the insert tab, then select the tab, you will get the drawing tools tab enabled under text setting you have the create link clcik on that and then select the other text box you want to create link with.

    Thanks.....
