When using the SharePoint iOS mobile app, I am unable to open and download a file in order to attach to an outgoing email. Currently, I can only send a link to the SharePoint file address which is not preferred.
Any help or recommendations would be great!

Hi Amanda,
We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused at your end.
From the description provided, we can understand that you’re unable to download the file present in your Document Library while accessing it in SharePoint mobile application. If yes, to overcome this situation follow the below steps to achieve your requirement:
Open the SharePoint application in Mobile> Open the Site where the files are present> Instead of accessing the Document Library, open the Site contents> Under the Contents, click on the library where your files are located> Select the file and download it.
In addition, we suggest you add your vote to related idea in SharePoint Apps for iOS UserVoice for bringing the more attention to related team.
Appreciate your patience and understanding.
