OneDrive Sync Conflict Problem

Hello,

I found some issue when I use OneDrive.

I synced shared files in my PC, then I unlinked my OneDrive.

I edited the files while they were unlinked. After that, I synced those files again.

Of course the files in my local PC and in OneDrive folder will conflict, I saw the message that the files collided and there are two options to leave or merge both files.

I chose the first one that will merge the changes from both versions, but I found that the only file was left which is in OneDrive Server.

It means that the update I edited was totally disappeared.

Is there anyone who knows about this problem? Or who knows how to leave the latest files?

The article really doesn't explain how the sync actually works. What happens when there is a conflict (screenshot)? How is a merge handled when two people save conflicting edits? How about some real world examples? The article is inadequate.
