Word Cross Reference

Is there a way to cross reference a date and include a formula?

For example: I set 'December 20, 2019' as a bookmark. I want to cross reference that date plus 30 days. So the cross reference should say 'January 19, 2020'.

Hi Kristine,

**I agree with Stefan that macros would be easier *if you can be sure that the user will allow macros to run.***This can be done with fields, but it is very complex.

Here is an example of the complexity (do not try to type this):

To see how to do this and just about everything else you might want to do with dates in Word, check out my Microsoft Word Date Calculation Tutorial, at:

In particular, look at the item titled Calculate a day, date, month and year, using n days delay. Do read the document's introductory material, as you'll also need to change the output coding slightly. Other than that, you can simply copy & paste the already-working field from the tutorial into your own document, then change the 'Delay' setting from 14 to 30.

Note: You can't reliably use Charles' field coding for anything more than 28 days.

Indeed, in a corporate environment it may be difficult to run macros. If you just want to use macros for yourself, it wouldn't cause trouble. You just have to make sure that you add the macros to a template which is in a trusted location. Using the Normal template or a global template (in the Startup folder) would work.
