Could somebody tell me if the following Planner limitations are still in place? Any word on when Microsoft will release official documentation for Planner?

  1. 250 Active tasks (Not Started, In Progress) per plan
  2. 250 assigned tasks per user irrespective of plans
  3. The Planner web UI has the limitation to display 100 tasks per bucket, there is no official limit for the bucket limitation in Planner.
  4. Planner associates with Office 365 Groups and the comments for tasks within a plan are stored in the Exchange Online mailbox of the Office 365 Group. The limit of the Office 365 group should be 2500.
  5. Another limit worth notice is that 1500 tasks can be created by a user irrespective of plans.
  6. About the permissions of Planner, currently, the admins could control who can create a plan but no classified permissions within a plan.

    Hi E-S-B,

From the description provided, we understand you want to know about any update in the limitations of the Microsoft Planner but want to know when the Microsoft official document will be released about the limitations. I have to admit that currently there is no any official article regarding the limitations in the Microsoft Planner and sorry to convey it.

But I found a reference said by the related developing team that they are planning on publishing formal documentation around all Planner limit once they have completed more performance and there is no any ETA about the release of the article.

Moreover, I would like to share my findings about the limitations in the Planner:

    a. 250 task limit per person per plan has been removed. Reference: Remove 250 task limit per person per plan

    b. 1500 tasks can be created by a user has already increased the limits but there is no correct number about it.

I apologize for not sharing the detailed information about the limitation and as the support team, I have added the feedback to the related developing team via Feedback in Microsoft Planner. So, I request you to add your feedback in the Microsoft Planner which is best way to take direct notice to related developing team. (Open the Planner> Settings> Send Planner feedback.)

Appreciate your patience and understanding. Have a good day and stay safe 😊

    Best Regards,

    Chitrahaas
