Does Microsoft support sending an encrypted email from Outlook Desktop client to gmail or yahoo accounts

Hi,
I have a unique situation, I have setup AIP and while it appears to be working I have an issue. I am hoping someone can help.
When I try and send an encrypted email from Outlook Desktop client to a gmail or yahoo account. I am not prompted to get a one-time passcode, all I receive is the protection verbiage but no way to decrypt message.
It works fine if I use OWA to gmail or yahoo, but when I try and use the Outlook Desktop client it does not.
Is this method supported by Microsoft, if it is what do we need to do to get this piece working.
