Bulk edit properties

Bulk edit properties not showing all metadata. I have a library with a document set configuration. When multiple files selected for bulk edit and the details pane clicked it shows the content type, not all the metadata. It's a modern SharePoint. The bulk edit properties work fine in other libraries on the same Site.

Thank you for your response. Your summary is right except the last one "you can see only Content type and columns created in the Document Library (not the columns added to the Document Set Content type)."

In my case, the columns added to the Document Set content type are not showing. I didn't add columns to the library. The weird part is the columns showing for sorting but not for bulk edit. I recommended the Edit in grid view option but my client not satisfied.

Thank you again. Let me explain further. I created a document set with site columns and used the same document set for several libraries on the same site. The bulk edit works fine for some libraries and doesn't work for others. These days I am using document set and bulk edit properties in other several sites without any problem. I wish I could attach the snapshot.

    Hi Manny,

As mentioned in my first reply, even at our end we can’t see the columns added to the Document Set Content type, my assumption those columns show up in Open in the details pane for the Document Set folder created via Document Set Content type but not for the documents created in it.

So, I am sorry to say that we can’t use the Bulk edit.

    Best Regards,

    Chitrahaas

    Hi Manny,

Sorry for the trouble caused at your end.

From the description provided, I understand your concern based on my test and I would like to summarize for misunderstanding:

    a. You created a Document Set Content type with some columns and added it to the Document Library.

    b. You created the Document Set and created documents in the Document Set folder.

    c. When you select the multiple documents in the Document Set folder and click on Open the details pane, you can see only Content type and columns created in the Document Library (not the columns added to the Document Set Content type).

If my summary is correct, even at our end during the test, we cannot see the site columns added to the Document Set Content type in Open the details pane for the documents in the document library. My assumption, the metadata we added to the Document Set Content type is only for the Document Set folders created but not for the documents created inside the Document Set folder or Document Libraries.

You can see the metadata in the Bulk Edit when you select the Document Set Folders in the Document library instead of Documents. We found a workaround, where we can add the metadata to the document via Edit in grid view.

Appreciate your understanding and patience. Have a good day and stay safe! 😊

    Best Regards,

    Chitrahaas
