Microsoft Audit Log

Hi MS Community,

I need your help to turn on the Audit Log from Microsoft Compliance. I am using a developer account E5 for testing this functionality but it is definitively not working for me.

I am the global admin and I also have assigned audit logs for me in the exchange center.

When I try to start recording user and admin activity, I get the message:

Sorry! We couldn't update your organization settings for now, but we will retry it in background. Please check back later.

When I try to apply retention labels with disposition approvals or with "declare as record" I also get error messages:

I think these problems might be somehow connected.

Can someone please help me figure out what is happening here?

    Hello IWend,

I think you may wait for a while, as it can be that server is currently too busy to update changes timely. You could wait for up to 24 hours. If there’s other admin account in your organization, let that account owner test Audit log search to see if result is the same.

If issue exists after 24 hours and all admins can’t perform Audit log search, please check my full reply in Private Message: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/privatemessage/inbox

    Best Regards,

    Anna

    Hi Anna,

Thank you for the feedback. After some days the Audit Log was enable and I could see the log. It was really a matter of waiting.

    Thank you for your feedback.

    Regards,

    Ingrid
