Copying text boxes

I have to apply the same text on multiple pages of a document (using a text box), but the text format is different in different places. So I create the text box, copy it in several places and then select one of them. When I change the font size and color in that one, it changes in all the others as well. How do I get each text box to be independent of the others.

If you send me a copy of the document, referencing this thread in the covering email message, I will investigate the issue.

As Stefan said, this is not ordinary behavior.

If you want, save a sample document with the problem on OneDrive or Dropbox and paste a view link here. Here is more on why and how to post such a document so I or others here can help you. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/fo...

A text box inserted via Insert > Text Box and then copied should not behave the way you described it. This indicates a damaged document, or at least damaged text boxes.

Try copying document content, minus the final paragraph mark, into a new, blank document and see if that overcomes the issue.

To show/hide paragraph marks (¶) as well as other nonprinting marks, click the ¶ icon on the Home tab.

    Hello,

My name is Charles Kenyon and I am an Independent Advisor in this forum . This forum is a user-to-user support forum. I am a fellow user with decades of experience using Microsoft Word. I have written extensively on using Word and have help articles on the Microsoft site.

"Textbox" means different things to different people.

You can get one kind using Insert > Textbox. That is a graphical element with text.

You get a text content control on the Developer Tab. For it to repeat the content, the control must be a mapped content control.

    Which are you using?

    I hope this information helps.

I like to also provide this link about Ransomware even though it has nothing to do with your question:

    Hi Charles,

    Thanks for your prompt response.

I am indeed using "Insert > Textbox".

Also, I do not have a Developer Tab, so I don't know what that means ... a different version of Word?

Yes, I require additional help if you have any to offer. These text boxes are formatting nightmares at this point.

    Thanks,

    Steve Onken
