Changing syncs with OneNote

Hello,

I feel that I have a somewhat odd problem that hasn't been discussed before. I'm relatively new to using OneNote. I originally was using my school account, but I'd like my notebooks to sync to my personal drive instead. And no, I don't want to simply share with the link because I don't want to have my notebooks sync to my school account anymore. Is there any way to do this? If so, how, and how do I export notebooks on my desktop? The interface is so much worse than onenote on my laptop, super hard to navigate. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi Caden,

Thank you for querying in this forum.

From your description, it seems that you used school account to sync notebooks, and now you want to sync those notebooks to your personal account. And you don’t want to share the notebook link with personal account.

May I know if my understanding is right? If so, we’d suggest you use OneNote 2016 to export the notebooks to the local, then you can move the notebook location to personal OneDrive, you can click Windows Start to check if you can find OneNote 2016, a shown below:

If you have installed OneNote 2016, you can refer to the steps below:

  1. Open OneNote 2016 and sign in your school account
  2. Click File > click Open to open the notebook you want to export
  3. After that, click File >click Export >Select Notebook >Choose OneNote Package (*.onepkg) >Export to a local path like Desktop, as shown below:

  1. Click File > Account > Switch account > Sign in your personal account
  2. Click Open > Select This PC under other location > Find the previous path and select OneNote Single File Package or All files to display the notebook package > Open > Create
  3. Click File > Share > Select and click your new account's OneDrive location > Rename it and click Move, as shown below:

  1. Then open your OneDrive with your new account. You will see the notebook in that location.

At the same time, if you cannot find OneNote 2016 in your Windows, you can click here to download OneNote 2016.

If the scenario above is not consistent with yours, you can also post back and point that.

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated. I hope that you are keeping safe and well!

Best Regards,

Sukie
