font changes in saved word document

Hello, I've used 'open sans' font to write a report and saved the document. I've sent it to the client and saved as PDF. However, when I open my own document again the font has changed to bold but the bold function isn't switched on so I can't change it back. This has also happened with a report written in 'gill sans nova'. When I download the report I sent to the client from email, and open it, I can see it as it should be but as soon as I choose the 'enable edit' function it changes it to bold. I'm guessing its something my end but I don't think I've changed any setting for this to happen. Can anyone help please?

Thanks, Linda

Make sure that the Regular variant of each of the fonts in question is still installed in Windows.
