Hi Yuttakarnn,

Thank you for querying in this forum.

I go through the post carefully. May I confirm if the error message appears when you try to open a file with long name in SharePoint and OneDrive sync folder via Windows File Explorer on your computer? (If I misunderstand, feel free to correct me)

I'd like to share with you the following information:

According to this article Restrictions and limitations in OneDrive and SharePoint (microsoft.com)

1.Due to operation system limitations, each segment of the path (a segment is a file name or folder name like “Promotion” or “Some File.xlsx” in the examples above) can't be more than 255 characters.

2.The length of the OneDrive root folder (e.g. C:\users\meganb\OneDrive - Contoso) + the relative path of the file (up to 400 chars) cannot be more than 520 characters.

So I recommend you make sure the file name path is not more than 255 characters. You can shorten the file name.

If your file name path is less than 255 characters but the error message still appears, you may also try to move the file and put it in OneDrive root folder, then check if you can open it.

If the error message still appears when you open the file, could you please confirm information below? I will continue trying best to assist you.

1.If you sync OneDrive and SharePoint files to computer by using OneDrive application, could you please us know your OneDrive application version?

2.Please share a screenshot of the error message when you cannot open the file.

3.Does a specific user have the error message when he tries to open the file? Do other users have this issue when they open the same file?

Many thanks for your patience and effort.

Best regards,

Tina
