I figured out the issue. Needed to Go to options > Display and in the Always show these formatting marks on the screen I had to uncheck "Hidden Text". Now it does NOT show unless I click on the Show/Hide button.
As you have noticed, some fields are formatted as hidden, so they hide when you hide hidden text.
