Microsoft 365 Business Basic Subscription

Question

Dear Team

If we subscribe to Microsoft 365 Basic User Licence we are offered Office Apps like Word, Excel on Web. When we create Word, Excel of PPT in Office Apps these are saved/stored in One Drive in the Cloud account of our user subscription.

My Queries :

1.Can we save these documents to our laptop using Save As option?

2.We do not have Office Suite in our Windows10 laptop at present, so, will the cloud version Word or Excel get saved to my local drive like D/ or C/ or E/???

3. Can we work Off Line on these Apps in my laptop without the desktop version of Office in my laptop?
4. Incase we use Mac or iPAD or Linux OS how can we make best use of Microsoft Business Basic which offers Office in Web only?

Thank you for querying in this forum.

I go through the post carefully and understand these questions are about Microsoft 365 Business Basic Subscription. For your questions, I'd like to share following information:

1.We cannot save the documents created in Office for the web apps to laptop with Save As option. It only supports to save to online locations in OneDrive and SharePoint.

2.Cloud version Word or Excel cannot be saved to local drive.

3.We cannot work offline on Office for the web apps because Office for the web apps require web browser and it needs Internet connection.

4.For different OS you mentioned, we can only use Office for the web apps via web browsers on these OS. Sorry to say that I'm not very sure about your requirements, you can post back and clarify it, I will continue trying best to assist you.

Since Office Business Basic does not let you install Office programs locally on the computer, the best solution would be to cancel that subscription and choose some other business subscription. Thanks for posting back.

If you want to have the services from Microsoft 365 Basic and Office desktop app, you can also choose to purchase Microsoft 365 Business Standard subscription, it contains desktop version of Office apps.

This means Microsoft Subscription of Office Apps to cost us twice? 1. Microsoft365 Business Basic 2. We have to purchase (subscribe) to Office Apps for Desktop & Laptop on Windows OS.
