Did you perhaps type your footnotes in the page footer? Similar terms like this can confuse anyone who isn't familiar with their meanings. By design, whatever you place in the footer is repeated on the following pages, at least throughout the current section (the pages between section breaks).

To enter footnotes, click in the body text that the footnote will refer to, and click the Insert > Footnote button. Word will automatically place the cursor near the bottom of the page, but above the footer, with the same number as appeared in the text where you started.

If your footnote text really is in the footer, you can cut and paste it into the appropriate footnote paragraphs.

I think you are thinking of the footer, not footnotes.

Are you saying that the footnote number restarts for each new page, or in what sense are the footnotes repeating?

When I try to insert a footnote on the next page us mirrors the first page. When I try to change it they will again change together. So all my footnotes are connected for some strange reason haha
