When I sync a SharePoint site to file explorer, is there a way I could get that to sync between devices? For example, my desktop at work, when I sync, on my laptop will also show the synced folder. I have sync settings turned on. One drive syncing syncing same account. 0365 for education

Hi Matib0i,

Thanks for the clarification.

I understand you have synced a SharePoint library on one computer, and you wanted to sync the same library to other computers automatically. To achieve your requirements, you will need to use group policy. If you want to auto-configure a SharePoint site to be synced, you can use the URL below as a guide to build the path to the SharePoint site you want to sync automatically. You can also use a policy to sync sites automatically. For info, see Configure team site libraries to sync automatically.

odopen://sync/?siteId=<siteId>&webId=<webId>&webUrl=<webURL>&listId=<listId>&userEmail=<userEmail>&webTitle=<webTitle>&listTitle=<listTitle>

For detailed information, see Auto-configure SharePoint site synchronization

Regards,

Neha

I apologize, I maybe needed top clarify more.

At one pc I will sync SharePoint libraries to display in my file explorer. I'll go to the document site and sync the site so all files are displayed and edited in file explorer.

What I am asking is, is there a way to have those SharePoint document libraries that I sync to file explorer on one PC, automatically appear in the file explorer of any other pc that I log into.

I have some auditoriums and conference rooms and what I'm trying to accomplish is when a user logs in to the PC stationed in each room, I want their desktop and settings to look as closely as I can to their primary device. While their personal One drive files will move between PCs, the synced Sharepoint Sites, you have to sync again.

A lot of elder users that work best in File explorer over SharePoint.

    Hi Matib0i,

To sync between two computers, you need to set up a OneDrive sync client on both the said computers.

Let’s assume an example, you have a personal computer at home and another computer at your work. On your personal computer, you have synced SharePoint library (let’s name it Library A) via the OneDrive sync client, and the synced folder appears in File Explorer. Now, if you want to sync the same SharePoint library (library A) on your work computer, you need to set up a OneDrive sync client.

Once you start syncing the same SharePoint library on both, personal and work computer, any changes you make on one device will show up on another device. If you create a new file and store it in the synced library on your personal computer that file will also appear on your work computer and vice-versa.

In your post, you mentioned “*I have sync settings turned on. One drive syncing the same account.”,*may I know if you are getting any error syncing the same SharePoint library on your work computer? Are you not able to get the same SharePoint library sync on both devices? If you are getting issues, please provide us with detailed information so we can help you fix them.

    Kind regards,

    Neha
