Default proofing language

Every time I created a new word document (Word online), my proofing language reverts to Spanish. I know how to change it in the document itself, but I'd like to set it so that when I open a new document it is already set to English. I have tried going through the settings in Office 365, but my language preference there is already English. I don't know if anyone has any idea how to fix this?

Here is my article that explores the proofing language and troubleshoots.

I would explore the proofing language settings of your styles, especially the normal style, in your Normal template.

What are your language settings in the operating system? Sometimes, the display language in Windows will overrule the default proofing language in Office, unfortunately.
