Keyboard command to insert current time or date in Excel for Android

In Excel for Windows, you can enter Ctrl + ; and current date will be added to the spreadsheet cell. Ctrl + Shift + ; gives the current time. These do not work in Excel for Android. Nothing changes in the active cell. I have tried it with the keyboard on the touch screen and with an excellent bluetooth keyboard that works for other apps and many of the common keyboard commands in Excel but alas, not this one.

I would appreciate it if you can supply a keyboard combination that can be used to insert the current date or current time (a static date - not changing as in Date() or TIme()) in my Excel for Android on my Samsung S5E tablet.

Many thanks for your help.

    Hi Pixelate1001!

I'm Jen, and I'd be happy to help you out with this issue.

I apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, this feature is not available in the mobile version of Excel, it is only available for desktop versions. You may use the =TODAY() and =NOW() functions to insert the current date and time in a cell. Please note that the community is a public user-to-user forum, we're also users like you trying to help other users and we don't work for Microsoft. For this requirement, I’ll suggest you send this concern as a feedback through the Excel Android app by going to Settings > Send Feedback

Thanks for your time and I appreciate your kind understanding. Stay safe and have a great day!

    Kind Regards,

    Jen :)
