SharePoint List forms removing question entries when another user submits

Hi All,

We have recently started having an issue with our SharePoint list forms where the form is removing anything in a "People" field before the user can submit it. Sometimes it takes the user several goes to submit the form.

I have played around to try and find the cause of this. From what I can see when another user also submits the form and the list in the background refreshes whilst the user is completing the form, it removes the name in the People field, all the other fields keep their data.

Any word on whether this was caused by an update, or is there anything we can do? It has only started in the last week or so and its causing issues because we have several thousand entries going into the form per day so they need to be able to use is concurrently.

    Hi Tin,

The field is of type "Person or Group" and I have the problem is all my lists that use this field (approx 9-10 lists)

Steps to reproduce (you will need two users to test):

User One: Opens Sharepoint list form and completes the Person or Group field by selecting a user. Continues to fill out form, but does not yet submit.

User two: Completes form and submits/save the form

User one: waits for list in background to refresh, person or group field is now blank in the form and previous selection is removed.

I have just checked and it is still occurring in our forms

    Appreciate you looking at this

    Thanks

    Hi .J.K.:

Thanks for sharing, in our tests here, the same problem did not occur.

We would like to know if this problem occurs in other Lists? If possible, could you please let us know the type of field you are using so that we can test more accurately.

    Best regards,

    Tin

    Hi Tin,

    Thanks for responding.

The SharePoint list just uses the default SharePoint form, it doesn't operate through power apps at all or have any power automate parts in the form. It just a basic collect responses, most of the fields are choice selection or free text, but the first field is a "Person or Group" field type that we can search and use anyone in the active directory (Its just a standard SharePoint list field, nothing special). This is the field that seems to be causing issues for us.

Our users complete the fields and submit the form, but they are finding that by the time they have completed all the fields, the Agent Name field is blank because another user has submitted a form in the meantime. All their other fields keep their data, its only this first one that is affected. (There are actually two separate lists that use the same field type that have the same issue, so its not just confined to one form/list)

I am not able to screen shot the list itself because it contains business sensitive information.

    Thanks

    Hi .J.K.:

You are welcome to post in our forum.

We would like to know if you use Power Apps to create your list forms. Ref:Customize a SharePoint list or library form by using Power Apps (contains video) - Power Apps | Microsoft Docs

Could you please share a screenshot of the list with us? At the same time, if it is convenient for you, could you share with us the specific steps for submitting the form. This helps us to understand if you are using automated applications such as PowerAutomate to assist you in collecting form data.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Best regards,

    Tin
