Co authoring encrypted excel files

I am trying to have more than one person be able to edit simultaneously without being locked out. The file needs to be encrypted and I know with the latest update of M365 we can do it but as soon as I encrypt the doc it disables autosave which in turns disables co authoring. What do I need to do?

Hi Kim TLS

Thanks for posting the thread on our forum.

According to your description, it seems that you want  to know how to Co authoring and autosave the encrypted excel files.

  1. If so, you can follow the below steps:
  2. Sign in Microsoft 365 compliance center (note: you should be the global admin in your tenant)
  3. Settings > Co-authoring for files with sensitivity files
  4. On the Co-authoring for files with sensitivity labels page
  5. Turn on co-authoring for files with sensitivity labels>Apply (Note: Wait 24 hours for this setting to replicate across your environment before you use this new feature for co-authoring.)
  6. Enabling this functionality results in the AutoSave functionality  automatically  for encrypted files.
  7. If you need to disable this feature, you can’t disable it by yourself, you should contact Microsoft Support.

For more detailed information, you can refer to Enable co-authoring for documents encrypted by sensitivity labels in Microsoft 365 - Microsoft 365 Compliance | Microsoft Docs

Hope the suggestions will help you.

Regards,

Stacey
