Dear ben magnadoctors.com

Good day! Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

  1. A quick search on the internet suggests this error usually appear when installing Office using Office Deployment Tool(ODT). May I know if you are using Office Deployment Toolto install Office? If this is your scenario, please also try installing Microsoft 365 from Office 365 portal. For reference, see Download and install or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2019 on a PC or Mac

Besides, generally, the error code may be because of errors encountered during the installation of ODT. to make sure if there is a problem with the code in the XML file. Can you provide a screenshot of the XML code page to us so we can have a better look.

  1. Besides, as the error message, please first confirm there have no other copies of the Office suite in the Windows Control Panel. If so, please uninstall them completely. It is suggested to use the tool in Option2: Uninstall Office from a PC (microsoft.com)
  2. Try to simply delete the Office folder and other files/folder in the ODT folder and re-start the process. And in location: %AppData% \Roaming\Microsoft find Office folder, then remove(delete) this and then run ODT again.

Meanwhile, we would like to collect more detailed information about the situation you are experiencing so that we can have further investigation:

  • Which version of Office do you have? Is it office 2016 or others?
  • If you are using a work account, please provide us with the screenshot of subscriptions page via go to the office 365 portal>My account>Subscription
  • May I know from where and how you are downloading Office installation package?
  • Do you have any other version of Office installed? To confirm, go to Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features and check if you see Office listed.

We’re looking forward to your reply and will continue to help you all the time!  If there is any misunderstanding, you can post back in your free time.

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated. I hope that you are keeping safe and well!

Sincerely,

Stacey | Microsoft Community Moderator
