My company offers branded powerpoint templates, but they only include an intro slide and a basic layout that is not ideal. How can I add new layouts to these templates?

Open the template, then choose View>Slide Master. If you want to make a layout that is similar, right-click on an existing layout in the left-hand list of layouts, choose Duplicate Layout, then revise the copied layout.

Otherwise, right-click on the grey space between layouts and choose Insert Layout. This will give you a title-only layout that you can use as a starting point. Using the Slide Master>Insert Placeholder command, you can add different types of placeholders to the new layout.
