Cursor not moving

Question

After wiping my keyboard and TouchPad, I noticed that it stopped working. Everything else worked fine except that I can't move my cursor. So I tried to shut it down, but that didn't work either. The problem only continued by somehow saying that I entered the incorrect password. And there was also this icon thing at the top but I'm not sure what it was

Laptop Cursor Not Working – How to Fix it?
The following are the relevant methods to solve the laptop cursor, not working problem:

Update Mouse and Keyboard Drivers;
Update Video Drivers;
Disable Biometric Devices;
Disable Antivirus Software;
Run Hardware Troubleshooter;

Update the Touchpad Drivers.

1. Update Mouse and Keyboard Drivers:
   If you had recently updated your Windows 10 OS, then there may be a chance that the update failed to update the mouse and keyboard driver to the most recent version. Before doing that, it is wise to plug in an external mouse to the laptop so that you could smoothly perform the solution. Here are the instructions:

Type "Device Manager" on the Windows search bar and open the utility;
Locate your mouse's driver and double click on it;
Right-click on the mouse's primary driver and click on "Update Driver;"

Click on "Search automatically for updated driver software" and let it scan for the newer version of the driver;
Click on close after the interface had successfully installed the driver on the computer;
Reboot your PC!
Repeat the same procedure with your keyboard's driver and update it to the latest version.

2. Update Video Drivers:
   The most recent Windows 10 update could also have caused a glitch with the already installed video drivers on your computer, which is why we recommend for you to check for their latest version through the device manager by following the procedure mentioned in the same manner.

3. Disable Biometric Devices:
   The biometric utility of the laptop allows additional user security so that no one other than them could access the computer. But, it also proves to put quite a load on the computer that could result in the cursor's inability to move around. We advise you to disable the biometrics feature to check whether the cursor moves or not on the computer. Please see the step-by-step guide to learn how to disable biometric devices on your laptop:

Type "Windows + R" and enter "services.msc" before pressing the "OK" button;

Locate the "biometric service" and right-click on it;
Click on "Properties" to proceed forward;
From the dialogue box, click on "Startup Type" and from the drop-down menu, click on "Disabled;"
Now click on "OK" to finalize the new settings!

4. Disable Antivirus Software:
Anti-virus programs are known to impact the performance of the computer system significantly. If you have third-party antivirus software installed on your, it is wise to disable it to see whether the cursor starts moving or not.

5. Run Hardware Troubleshooter:
   It would help if you regularly troubleshot the hardware of your computer regardless of the crisis. The best way is to shut down the laptop, remove the battery, and open its back case to wipe all the excess dust off from the hardware. It is also recommended to remove and insert the memory modules of the laptop. You should also check whether you have correctly connected the charger to the computer or not.
