    Good morning,

I followed all your instructions, and the problem remains. Dictation works with the Word version for the web, but does not work on the desktop. I checked privacy, deleted the container file, use safe mode, nothing solved the problem. What else can I try?

    regads,

    Simon

    Hi respected Simon Schwartzman,

Thanks for your valuable feedback and sharing updates with us and I really appreciate your effort and your precious time doing.

And I appreciate your kind words.

Could you please verify that Word has the necessary permissions to access your microphone. You can do this by going to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Microphone. Ensure that Microsoft Word is listed and enabled.

If still doesn't work, remove the Office folders from Containers folder in Library with following steps.

a: Completely quit all Office apps

b: In Finder, press COMMAND +Shift+g.

    c: Enter**~/Library** and click Go

d: Go to Containers folder, find the folder called Microsoft Word or com.Microsoft.Word

e: Move this folder to your desktop by cut&paste .

f: Relaunch Word for Mac application and see the results.

Also, try to reboot Mac in safe mode and determine whether background programs are causing the issue. For detailed information, please check this article.

Meanwhile, sign in www.office.com and use the dictating in Word for the web to check if the behavior on online side.

If my above suggestion doesn't work, and since you are using Office 365 insider version (16.75), we will move this thread to correct category for further help.

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated. I hope that you are keeping safe and well!

    Sincerely,

    Waqas Muhammad

I forgot to mention that this is the first time I tried to use dictation, so, I don't know when the problem started. But I have just uninstalled Office from my computer and installed it again, to see if the problem would disappear, but it did not.

    Dear Wa]qas,

Thank you for your willingness to help.

When I tried to use dictation with MS Word, I get a message "Oops, there was a problem with Dictation" "Something unexpected interrupted the audio stream. Please try again"

Dictation works fine with Apple Pages, so, it is not a problem with the Mac system. Dictation is enabled in the keyboard systems panel. I am using Microsoft Offic 365, Word For Mac 16.75. My computer is a MacAir M2, running Venture13.5 Beta (22G5038d) .

Looking forward for other possible steps,

    Simon

    Dear respected Simon Schwartzman,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

As per your description, may I know have you tired go to the Apple menu in the top-left corner of the screen, select "System Preferences," and then choose "Keyboard." In the Keyboard preferences window, click on the "Dictation" tab and ensure that dictation is enabled. You can also select your preferred language for dictation.

As Dictation is a system level on Mac OS, you can try to check Microsoft phone settings. Also, could you please try to restart the Mac, sometime restarting the Mac will fix the problem.

Also, here is article for your reference: If dictation in Office isn't working (microsoft.com)

We appreciate your understanding that sometimes the initial suggestions may not resolve the problem very soon. However, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation. So, please kindly provide more information below to let us work further.

    1. Did you get any error message? If so, please capture a screenshot to us.

2.Confirm the version of Office: About Office: What version of Office am I using?

    1. Can you recall when this behavior starts e.g., after Office update or Mac OS.

Appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Waqas Muhammad
