When adding a footnote using the ctrl+alt+f I get a spinning cursor

When adding a footnote using the ctrl+alt+f I get a spinning cursor. I have been able to resolve this issue by using the shortcuts ctrl+c, ctrl+x or ctrl+v.

I have not been able to consistently replicate this in other word documents, besides my thesis. I will not share my thesis with you, for obvious reasons.

I am using Windows 10 Version 22H2 with the latest version of Microsoft Word.

Hopefully you are aware of this issue, and can give me some pointers.

Kind regards and thanks in advance,

Lars

    Hi Lars

I'm AnnaThomas and I'd happily help you with your question. In this Forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

The spinning cursor issue when adding a footnote with the Ctrl+Alt+F shortcut in Microsoft Word may be related to a software conflict or a temporary glitch. Here are some suggestions that might help you resolve the issue:

Restart your computer and try again.

Disable any add-ins or plugins that you may have installed in Microsoft Word, as these can sometimes interfere with certain features. To do this, go to File > Options > Add-ins and select "COM Add-ins" from the drop-down menu. Then, click "Go" and uncheck any add-ins that are enabled.

You can try repairing your Microsoft Office installation. https://support.microsoft.com/office/7821d4b6-7c1d-4205-aa0e-a6b40c5bb88b

I hope this helps ;-), let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions.

    Best Regards,

    AnnaThomas
