Office Dictate

I use dictate on Word and Outlook all of the time and loved it. I am very used to saying period or comma as I dictate, especially to end a sentence. I tend to speak slower or pause as I think what I want to say.

As of a few days ago, it seems that dictate now senses every little pause in my speech to place a period and start a new sentence.

Is there any way to revert back to what I was used to?

    Dear Robert J. Chankalian,

    Good day!!

Apologies for the inconvenience caused and please don’t worry, let’s work together on your concern and move towards a resolution path.

I understand your concern and would like to convey that I have tested the behavior at my end in the latest version of the Word app in the Semi-Annual channel, where I notice the period is placing where there is a gap for 2 seconds during the Dictate feature.

As per my search and finding, there is no setting to revert the change, but I suggest you report the behavior to the related development team via directly adding the feedback in the Word application which is the best way to take direct notice. Reference: How do I give feedback on Microsoft 365? - Microsoft Support

Moreover, as a workaround, you can disable the Auto-Punctuation temporarily and insert the punctuations manually by saying them: Dictate your documents in Word - Microsoft Support

For disabling: Open the Document> Home tab> Dictate> Settings> Uncheck “Enable auto-punctuation”> Save (as shown on the bottom of my reply)

At last, I will keep this thread open so that Word MVPs and experts can share their opinion on this concern.

Appreciate your patience and understanding. Have a great day!!

    Best Regards,

    Sophia
