How can I set my notes default display to Page Width? It is tedious having to click that button for almost every one.

    Hi Brian J Davies

Thanks for getting back. I apologize for the late response.

If that's the case, you may try these steps below:

    1. Open OneNote Desktop on your Windows 11 computer.
    2. Click on the "File" tab in the top left corner of the screen.
    3. Select "Options" from the drop-down menu.
    4. In the "OneNote Options" window, click on the "Advanced" tab.
    5. Scroll down to the "Display" section and check the box next to "Automatically switch to full page view".
    6. Click "OK" to save your changes.

With this setting enabled, OneNote will automatically switch to full page view, which displays your notes at page width, whenever you open a new page or section.

    Sincerely,

Thanks. However, in M365 OneNote Desktop There is no Display section in Options/ Advanced. The Options/ Display section does not show a "Automatically switch to full page view" checkbox. I can't see it anywhere else either.

Unfortunately much of my content is from the web clipper so setting a page size in this context would not help.

    Hi Brian J Davies

Thank you for posting on the Microsoft Community forum.

I understand that having to manually adjust the display to Page Width for each note can be a bit inconvenient. This issue arises because, as of the last update, OneNote for Windows 11 does not have a built-in feature that allows you to set the default display to Page Width.

However, you can change the size of the paper page, including adjusting the margin size of your notes from the default ‘Auto’ to a fixed size like ‘Letter’ or ‘A4’. Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Select the View Tab | Page Setup | Page Size
    2. The Page Size pane will appear on the right-hand side of the screen
    3. Under Size, the drop-down box will already be set to Auto, or OneNote’s default setting for the Paper Size
    4. Select the drop-down arrow and choose your preferred Paper Size from the list
    5. Select between Portrait or Landscape under Orientation, and even further adjust the Width or Height of the paper

This might not be the perfect solution, but it could help make your note-taking experience a bit smoother.

    Sincerely,
