In Excel's color picker (MacOS, Excel 16.80), what in the world is that set of triangles where the preview color should be? Neither of the colors shown in the triangles represent the color designated by the sliders. (P.S. I tried to upload 3 images of this, in 3 different formats, and all uploads failed).

My color picker looks like Bob's when I format a font color.

Maybe it makes a difference what sort of object you're choosing a color for. What object is being colored?

I'm not sure what to tell you... I've never seen this before. I'm using 16.81 on Ventura 13.6.3 & cannot reproduce the split swatch.

Have you tested other color tools & in other programs to see whether they produce the same oddity?

All I can suggest is to see whether restarting the Mac provides a remedy. If not, use Help> Feedback in the Excel menu to report it to the development team. Include a link to this thread when you do. If you witness the same issue in other programs it should be reported to Apple as well.

The border around the Color Wheel tool indicates that the tool is selected. If you press Tab repeatedly you'll see how the selection border moves from one element to another. However It doesn't seem to enable activating anything but the OK button.

    Sonoma 14.2.1.

And, yes, that is a screen capture in my second post. I also noticed that the color wheel icon in the upper left has a round-rectangle highlighting it. Clicking on those different picker icons does nothing to the highlight, but does switch the picker mode.

I just tried it in Powerpoint, and it seems to be unaffected (meaning it looks like your screen shot).

This is what I get using the same values:

Which version of macOS are you using? The Color Picker is an apple device.

The easiest way to include a screen shot is to use the OS keyboard shortcuts to copy to the Clipboard:

    • Shift+Command+Control+4 to select an area
    • Shift+Command+Control+3 to capture the entire screen

Then paste into your reply. Use the lower right corner of the image to scale it.

The images worked in the reply, but no the initial post.
