OneDrive - Processing changes take forever

Question

I have a user, who has around 1,470,000 files/folders.

She has been having problems with her OneDrive for a long time, I do understand that OneDrive suggests not to have more that 300,000 files/folders.

So, I am trying to sync her OneDrive and then once the sync is done, unselect the folders she doesn't need so it can work smoother.

Currently her OneDrive is processing files and it never stops, I also found out you can not unselect the folders you want unless everything is synced completely.

All I am trying to achieve at this moment is to sync and then unselect the unwanted folders.

The computer is joined to Azure, So far this is what I have tried:

1- Uninstalled OneDrive and downloaded and installed the latest app.

2- Tried to unlink the OneDrive and re-link it.

3- Disabled Windows firewall and antivirus.

4- Windows is up to date

5- the internet speed is 310Mbps down / 22.89 up

6- Wiped the computer from Intune, then re-enroll it to our environment, thinking a fresh computer will work. when OneDrive started syncing after i logged in the very first time to user's profile the numbers went down quickly, I though this will sync eventually, but when the the number shows "processing 34 changes" all of a sudden the number went back up to that 1,470,000 and started going down again, this time, the process was going down quickly until it reached 650,000 then it started to slow down, to the point sometimes in just 30 min it only synced 100 files.

I did reset the OneDrive based on the commands you posted on the link.

However, I wasn't aware that this will reset OneDrive settings as well, I was thinking this will only start the sync process.

Currently my problem is as I mention in my original post, that this use has over 1,400,000 files/folders, any activities you do on her onedrive is very slow.

All I want is her onedrive to sync at some point so i can deselect the folders she doesn't use daily and leave the ones she uses every day, which are way less than 300,000 files/folders.

My question is how can I select the folders I want to sync to her onedrive from the beginning of the sync process? Because, when the sync process starts you are unable to do any changes unless it is synced and the bigger problem is her OneDrive never stops syncing or it keeps processing chagnes.

If you haven't tried Reset OneDrive, I suggest you try it to see and let us know the outcome.

Meanwhile, I suggest you move some large files out and sync a small part of the files to see whether they can be synced.
