Resize Image Bugs

Question

I cannot resize my images in word properly. You can see the video here: https://share.cleanshot.com/8lPPn2vt

When I try to do that, the image will become super large and unable to edit.

I just did a test in Word 16.84 on macOS Sonoma. I can resize images which are inserted into a Word document.

I'd like to help you, we can work together to narrow down the situation and move towards a resolution path.

May I know if you met this issue in a specific document or different documents?

You may copy and paste the images into a different document and then check the result.

If different document still has the problem, to further troubleshoot this issue, I would appreciate if you could try following steps and let me know the result.

1.Clear Word cache:

• Close all your documents. Quit Word App.
• Open Finder, press Command + Shift + g, in the window that opens, enter ~/Library/Containers and click Go.
• In the Containers folder, find the folder Microsoft Word and move it to your desktop. (for backup purpose)
• Reopen your document, see if you can resize images.

2.If issue still happens, try reinstalling Word:

• Uninstall Word from Finder > Applications > move Microsoft Word to trash.
• reinstall Word by downloading and installing this package: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=525134

3.You may also reboot Mac in safe mode, this way helps you determine whether this issue is caused by background programs in your Mac. For detailed steps, please check How to use a "clean startup" to determine whether background programs are interfering with Office for Mac - Microsoft Support

1.Did it work in Word before? If yes, may I know when did this issue start to happen?

2.How was the image inserted into document? From Insert > Pictures or directly copy then paste into document?
