Configuring Microsoft Loop to Open Office Documents in Desktop Applications by Default

How can I configure Microsoft Loop to open linked Office documents directly in the desktop applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) rather than in the browser? I've set up OneDrive and SharePoint to open files in desktop apps by default, but links from Loop still open in the web versions. Is there a way to adjust this setting in Loop?

    Dear Priscilla Alarie,

Good day!! Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern. As far as I know, I'm sorry and I'm afraid there is no built-in feature in Microsoft Loop which can set it to open linked Office documents directly in the desktop applications. Very sorry for the inconvenience.

Personally, I completely agree with you, this is indeed a good addition to the current features of Loop. It would be definitely ideal if we could open Office documents links in Office desktop apps. Thank you for bringing thing to our attention.

Actually, other customers noticed this situation and they have posted similar ideas in Loop Feedback Community, I recommend you vote for them:

Option to open links in desktop app · Community (microsoft.com)

Our Product Team is in-charge of the site and they are constantly checking the comments and feedback from our customers. The higher votes, the more attention the related team will pay on. Many features have been developed and improved based on users' comment.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!

    Sincerely,
