Dear JohnB004
Thanks for raising your concerns in Microsoft Community.
I understand that you are encountering the problem that all comments in Excel are displayed as serial comments. I understand your trouble.
This should be because Excel has been updated to a new version of comments, which has caused the display method of comments to change.

We can first try to turn off the new comments in Excel: You can open any Excel document, click [Microsoft Excel] > [Preferences] > [General] in the upper left corner of the desktop, find [Enable new comments], and uncheck it.
Then you need to save the file, close Excel and reopen it, so that the old version of comments will be displayed.
However, it should be noted that Microsoft is currently pushing the new version of comments, and the old version of comments will be gradually turned off in the future, and the option to switch will also be gradually cancelled.
I hope the above information is helpful to you. We are looking forward to hearing from you and will continue to assist you.
Best Regards,
Tracy - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
