Question

Is it possible to get rid of copilot?

I have a yearly subscription to MS365 and the copilot button has appeared on the end of the ribbons in the office suite of apps.

It is also on the Bing screen in MS Edge.

I have no use nor interest in AI - I am not a developer, do not have or use Teams, and only now am I considering getting a Win 11 desktop to replace my aging Win10 machine. In the meantime, I want ro rid my computer of the unsolicited and unwanted Copilot.

No worries, I will submit the feedback for you.

Today is January 31st, and tomorrow will be February. I hope the development team can release the update patch as scheduled. I will keep a close eye on this issue. If they have already released the patch, I will inform you here. Once you update, you should be able to disable Copilot's intrusion in all applications.

Starting from January 16, 2025, the product team rolled out a Copilot update to users worldwide, and AI was installed across everyone's Office applications. Although this was not my decision, I apologize for the sudden change. I fully understand that for professionals like yourself, who require a tidy work environment, the intrusion of AI can indeed be an obstacle.

In the latest version of Word (version 2501), the development team has added a button that allows you to disable all Copilot prompts in Word with a single click. To do this, please open the Word application, go to File > Options > Copilot, and uncheck the "Enable Copilot" option.

Currently, this feature to disable Copilot is only available in Word. The development team is expected to release a patch in February 2025 to add a button to disable Copilot in Excel and PowerPoint applications. Please make sure to update your Office applications to the latest version to receive the patch.

Once again, I apologize for any negative experiences caused by Copilot. I have the exact same problem, except that for me in Word there is no enable copilot option only the option to collapse pilot summary automatically. The AI is very annoying and it does take up a lot of the real estate on my screen.

Thank you for the reply. I have already done that. If anything has been downloaded onto my computer to do with copilot, I want to find out how to get rid of it completely.
