Guys,
I recently upgraded my MAC OS to 10.13 as a result all my MS DOC files I had created before up grading the OS I could not open. It asked me to "Buy MS Office 365" which I did from Staples today and installed.
To my surprise even after completing all formalities of installing the MS Office 365 I can not open my old DOC files.
It asks me to select the "encoding" to make my documents readable giving me options of
After that it asks to select options from
Insert Line Breaks
Allow character substitution
Add bi directional marks
I tried several ways but I am unable to open my older DOC documents which is weird to say the least.
Appreciate any one's help and guidance.

What version of Office for Mac did you use? I suggest you install the latest updates for Office: Open Word go to the Help menu and choose Check for Updates to launch the AutoUpdate app. Let AutoUpdate install updates and then restart your Mac.
