Hyperlink appears as "<<selection in document>>"

What I see, is text to display: <<selection in document>>, , with the selection in document greyed out. You suggestion above sounds like I must start over with no guarantee that the new document is going to work properly.

How inefficient! This part of WORD worked perfectly as it was, so I am completely baffled as to why Microsoft would make changes. I want to be able to edit bot the link and occasionally, the document text. Also, the link is opening a different browser than the one I am using, so now I must log into the site I am working on in a different browser. Why nobody has stepped up and made a better product yet is beyond me, but there would be good money in it.

    <<Selection in document>> refers to a selected object which is not text. You will see it when the hyperlinked item is a picture, for example.
