In MS Word 2019, I have Ctrl PageDown set to navigate to Next Page but cursor is not active for immediate text input and I must click on page to activate it. How can I fix this?

Hmm, I realize that "report" is a poor choice of word, since it suggests buggy behavior. It is still possible to post a suggestion for future versions in the feedback portal, though.

    Hello, TG#66

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I realize that you have encountered a problem with using Ctrl PageDown to navigate to next page in Word. I understand how you feel.

I have tried to reproduce your issue here.

**1 ->**When I set Ctrl + PageDown as the shortcut for the NextPage command, I encountered the same situation as you:

When I press Ctrl + PageDown, Word only navigates to the next page, but the cursor does not move. The cursor appears only when I click on the next page.

2 -> When I set Ctrl + PageDown as the shortcut for the BrowseNext command, the situation is different:

So, please try setting Ctrl + PageDown as the shortcut for the BrowseNext command instead of the Next Page command.

    • In Word, click File > Options > Customize Ribbon >Customize.
    • Select All Commands in Categories on the left, find NextPage command in Commands list on the right. Click Ctrl + PageDown in Current keys, click Remove.
    • Find BrowseNext command in Commands list on the right. In the Press new shortcut keys box, press Ctrl + PageDown, click Assign.
    • Click close > Ok.
    • See the effect.

If you need further assistance, please let us know the version of your Word 2019. The settings may vary between different versions.

Open a Word file **** > select File in the upper-left corner -> select Account. Attach a screenshot of this full page

Please understand that our initial response may not always solve the problem immediately. Feel free to post back if you need further assistance.

    Best wishes,

There's not much point reporting this, as this is the way Word has always behaved. The same thing happens when you click in the vertical scroll bar.

As you have found, you can use NextPage command to navigate to the next page but it doesn't move the insertion point (unless you also click on the page).

You can report this to Microsoft via the Feedback portal at https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/forum/fb6d67e3-301c-ec11-b6e7-0022481f8472.

Unfortunately, BrowseNext only works if a previous search has not been performed with Find (Ctrl+F). If a search was previously performed, BrowseNext navigates to the next occurrence of whatever was searched and highlights that result.

I need to navigate to the top of the next (or previous) page with an active cursor.
