Disabling auto comparison when looking at version history
Hi all,
Has anyone found how to disable the auto compare ("Show edits") toggle in Word when pulling up a past version of a document? This ALWAYS freezes Word for me, requiring me to force quit Word and come back to my doc. I never use this "Show edits" feature, and it's pretty sad that it doesn't just go with the last setting (e.g., remembering that I turned it off).
Screenshot of what I am talking about.
I've looked in the options for a way to disable this and tried searching for a solution online, but the search engines think I mean how to show/hide the markup and stuff. All I want is to have "Show edits" default to "Off" so I don't crash Word when I accidentally forget to toggle the option off.
I am using Word for Microsoft 365 (version 2503 Build 16.0.19623.20178) 64-bit on Windows 11 Pro 24H2. I have an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H with 64 GB of memory. I am up to date all around.
Thanks in advance
