    Hello Zom6ie,
Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

As requested above I understand how inconvenient it can be Let’s address both issues systematically.

    Syncing Errors

Check Sync Status by launching the OneDrive app on your device and verify its sync status. Look for a yellow triangle or red X icon, which indicates an issue.

    Pause and Resume Syncing:

Click on the OneDrive cloud icon in your taskbar/system tray. Select Pause syncing, wait for a few minutes, and then resume syncing. Ensure that you have adequate Storage check if your OneDrive account or device has sufficient storage. You can view OneDrive storage usage by signing into your account.

    Remove Duplicate Photos

Manually Review Duplicates If the duplicates are stored locally and synced to OneDrive, you can use the View by Date or Sort by Size feature in your gallery or OneDrive folder to identify duplicates easily.

Automatic Duplicate Cleaners on Windows, you can use tools like the Photos app or third-party software to detect and delete duplicate images. Make sure to review matches carefully to avoid accidental deletion.

Create folders for better organization and ensure that the same photo isn’t accidentally saved in multiple locations.
    To Prevent Future Duplicates.

Avoid Sync Overlap check your device settings to ensure OneDrive isn’t syncing the same folder multiple times from different devices. Disable Camera Roll Upload Temporarily on your phone, go to OneDrive settings and temporarily turn off Camera Upload to avoid uploading duplicates.

Sync Settings consolidate your folders and ensure OneDrive syncs only specific directories.

    Rebuild OneDrive Sync

If the issue persists I will suggest that you unlink OneDrive: Open the OneDrive app, click on Settings > Account > Unlink this PC/device, and then re-link your account.

Lastly Remove OneDrive from your device, reinstall it, and reconfigure sync settings. These steps should help tackle the syncing errors and clean up the duplicate photos.

    Best wishes,
