I’m using Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2024 (64-bit) on Windows.

  • Power Pivot was working before but suddenly disappeared from the ribbon.
  • I went to File → Options → Add-ins → COM Add-ins and “Microsoft Power Pivot for Excel” is missing from the list.
  • I also checked Disabled Items — it’s not there either.
  • I tried reinstalling Office — still not fixed.

How can I fully restore the Power Pivot Add-In in Excel 2024 (Office LTSC), so it:

Appears in the COM Add-ins list again, and

Shows up as a tab in the Excel ribbon

Hello Abdullahi. I think the issue is caused by an add-in registration in the registry being involved in a corruption or removed altogether. I have experienced this after a crash, or a system restore or clean reinstall of Office which creates registry entries for the Office suite, but none for the Power Pivot add-in. Since the add-in does not predictably show under the COM Add-ins nor Disabled Items, my guess is that Excel does not know it to be installed, but the actual add-in files are normal, however, it still needs registration in the registry.

To repair Power Pivot you need to repair the registry entries manually. To fully restore Power Pivot in Excel 2024 (Office LTSC), you will need to manually repair its registry entries. So, first, take an extra step to completely exit Excel. Next, open the Registry Editor (Win + R and type regedit) and go to:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\User Settings

Then look for a key called PowerPivotExcelAddin and if found, right-click and delete it. Then go to:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins

and delete the key called PowerPivotExcelClientAddIn.NativeEntry.1 if present. This will remove any corrupted references being called back by Excel which block it from loading Power Pivot.

Now, you can open Excel and go back to File > Options > Add-ins > COM Add-ins > Go . You should see "Microsoft Power Pivot for Excel" listed again. To enable it, check the box and the Power Pivot tab should reappear in the ribbon.

Here's the reference: Start the Power Pivot add-in for Excel
