My son fixed this. He went to troubleshooter, then other troubleshooting settings then let it run the troubleshooter. Then he searched for date and time connection then hit synch. After this he ran command prompt as administrator and ran the cmd ipconfig /flushdns (with space after ipconfig), next (still at cmd prompt) ran netsh winsock reset then rebooted and it was gone. Apparently, the Windows Store thinks nobody (or a great many of us) have no internet connection as the store tries to autoload.

He's the bright one in the family, lol.

    Hello Farrah Eller!

It seems like you’re encountering the error code 0x800704cf, which usually indicates a network connection problem that can prevent you from signing into Microsoft 365 or using some Microsoft apps.

Here are some friendly steps you can try to fix this:

    1.	Restart Your Computer and Router: Sometimes, a quick reboot clears up connectivity glitches.

    2.	Disable Third-Party Antivirus Temporarily: Occasionally, security software blocks network access. You can try turning it off briefly to see if that helps.

    3.	Reset Network Settings:

    •	Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings.

    •	Click Network reset, then Reset now.

    •	Restart your computer afterward.

    4.	Update or Reinstall Network Drivers:

    •	Open Device Manager.

    •	Find your network adapter under Network adapters.

    •	Right-click and choose Update driver.

    • If that doesn’t fix it, you can also uninstall the driver and reboot to let Windows reinstall it automatically.

    5.	Run the Windows Network Troubleshooter:

    •	Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.

    •	Select Network Adapter and follow the instructions.

    6.	Check Your Accounts:

    •	If you are using a local account, try switching to a Microsoft account or vice versa.

    •	Creating a new user account to test if the issue is account-specific can sometimes help.

    7.	Repair Upgrade (Safe Windows Reinstallation):

    •	If nothing else works, using the Windows Media Creation Tool to perform an in-place upgrade can fix system issues without deleting your files or apps.

These steps often resolve the 0x800704cf error and help restore your access to Microsoft apps and services. If you get stuck or want help with any step, just let me know!

    Best Regards,

    Jerald Felix
